“You can’t study the environment without going into the environment,” said Professor Marc Alperin.  Going “into the environment” is what this unique Maymester class is all about.  The marine science class, N.C. Estuaries: Environmental Processes and Problems, taught by Professor Marc Alperin includes two days on the water and allows students to get an up close and personal look at how an estuarine system functions.  The first day included a trip down the Neuse River while the second was spent exploring Beaufort Inlet and the Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve.
