The scientists aboard the research vessel Sonne will be in the middle of the Central Pacific approximately along a transect 180° latitude. Research will be primarily focused on hydrography and biooptics as well as the bacterial communities and dissolved organic nutrients in the various Pacific biogeographic provincial or climatic regions.
