This past fall Dr. Andreas Teske led IODP expedition 385 to the Guaymas Basin as a co-chief scientist. The aim of this expedition was to explore a spreading center in the Gulf of California, the Guaymas Basin, by drilling a Northwest-to-Southeast transect across its flanking regions and axial valley. Dr. Teske spent two months on the JOIDES Resolution to collect data on the spreading activity in the basin.

For more information and what day to day life was like on the JOIDES, you can check out Dr. Teske’s Expedition 385 blog at https://expedition385.wordpress.com/
