The EMES department is pleased to announce that Aundre Jackson has received the 2023 National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship Award (https://ndseg.org/) to support his PhD research and education. He was awarded this highly competitive fellowship in recognition of his academic excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) achievements. Only 4,400 fellowships have been awarded from over 65,000 applicants since 1989. Aundre is a PhD student advised by Associate Professor Alecia Septer researching how a luminous marine bacterium (Vibrio fischeri) uses T6SS as a weapon to maintain dominance in the light organ of Bobtail squids.
Program Awardees will receive stipends, full tuition, and all mandatory fees coverage for up to 3 years at any accredited U.S. college or university that provides advanced degrees in science and engineering. The NDSEG Fellowship is sponsored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), the Army Research Office (ARO), and the Office of Naval Research (ONR) under the Office of the Under Secretary for Research and Engineering. This program is administered by Solutions Through Innovative Technologies, Inc. (STI-TEC).
