Hunting microbes in the northern Gulf of Mexico: a cultivation-based approach (Host: Scott Gifford) The talk will cover the results from the first year and a half of a three year study to establish high-throughput cultivation protocols and a culture collection of microorganisms from coastal Louisiana. Dr. Thrash will outline their approach, including their custom media designs, and share data on cultivation successes and failures, along with initial results from genomic and physiological characterization of key isolates.
