Title: The Interaction of Internal Waves with Sloping Boundaries: Implications for the Sedimentary Record
Abstract: Review of the physics of internal waves reflecting off sloping boundaries. Due to the peculiar dispersion relationship which internal waves must satisfy, the reflection process can cause localized scouring which has implications for the interpretation of stratigraphic records. Observations from Massachusetts Bay, a natural laboratory, will be used to study the process.
