Title: The future for coastlines: models vs data for barrier islands and river deltas
Abstract: Coastlines are dynamic and shaped by many forces including waves, tides, and rivers. They are likely to retreat in the future because of sea-level rise, but making model projections remains difficult. There are many model limitations and we need more data to test model outcomes. In this talk I will discuss two models we have developed to better forecast future coastal change, one for barrier islands and another for river deltas. I will also go into methods to test both models, specifically ones that take advantage of available global data.
